Pull as far off the road as you safely can.
Turn on your hazard lights.
If it’s unsafe to get out, stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on.
If the vehicle is in a dangerous position or anyone is at immediate risk, call 111 first.

Stuck on the side of the road?
Yes — Ashley’s Tow Taxi provides roadside assistance for flat batteries, punctures, flat tyres and fuel issues across North Canterbury and Christchurch.
If we can get you moving safely at the roadside, we will. If the vehicle needs further repair, we can tow it to your preferred workshop.
Punctures and flat tyres
A lot of modern cars don’t have spare wheels, and even when they do, sods law says that your spare is flat, the wheel brace is missing or you’re wearing your best clothes to go to a wedding/job interview/meeting with King Charles. Ran out of fuel?
If you’ve run out of petrol or diesel and are sitting on the side of the road miles from a petrol station, just call us on 0800 829 869 and we’ll bring out enough fuel to get you to a petrol station (cost of fuel is additional).
Flat battery?
We’ve all gone to start our cars and heard that sound which means the car ain’t gonna start no matter how much we swear at it. No problem, just call us on 0800 869 829 and we’ll give you a jump-start. We’ll also test your flat-battery and tell you if you need a new one.

We can help with a range of roadside problems, including vehicles that won’t start, breakdowns, immobilised vehicles and situations where the vehicle needs to be recovered or towed. If we can’t get you moving safely at the roadside, we can arrange to take the vehicle where it needs to go.

No problem. We’re a towing company as well as a roadside assistance provider, so if the vehicle can’t be safely driven, we can tow it to your home, workshop or another destination.

Yes. A flat battery is one of the most common roadside problems. We can assess the situation and, where appropriate, help get the vehicle going or arrange towing if there’s a bigger issue.

Yes. We regularly deal with EVs, including vehicles with flat 12-volt batteries or vehicles that are immobilised and can’t simply be put into neutral. We have equipment for moving vehicles with locked wheels when required.

Often, yes. We carry recovery equipment and can assist with vehicles stuck off the road, on difficult driveways or in other awkward locations. Give us a call and tell us what’s happened so we can work out the safest option.

It depends on where you are and what our trucks are doing at the time. Because we’re based in North Canterbury and work throughout Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Woodend, Amberley and Christchurch, we can usually give you a realistic ETA when you call.

The most useful things are your location, vehicle make and model, registration number, what has happened, and whether the vehicle is somewhere safe. Don’t worry if you don’t know everything — just tell us what you can see and we’ll take it from there.
